FOS (UK) relies on its members for the majority of its income. This is the money that enables us to make a real difference to your world home - Sangam.
| Thanks to the Government's improvements to the Gift Aid Scheme introduced in 2000, we can reclaim the tax you have already paid on any subscription or donation you give to FOS (UK) from 6 April 2000 onwards. If you are a UK taxpayer, the taxman will add another 28p to every pound you have given, at no extra cost to you. |

To enable us to reclaim the tax under Gift Aid, we only require one taxpaying member in your household to complete the Gift Aid declaration.
But please let us know if you change your name or address, or if you cease to be a UK taxpayer.
We have tried to answer some of the questions that are most commonly asked about
Gift Aid.
But if you have any questions that are not answered there,
then please contact us.
How does the Gift Aid scheme work?
If you pay UK income tax or capital gains tax, FOS (UK) can reclaim the tax
you have already paid on your subscription or any donation you make after 6th April 2000.
How does my gift qualify for Gift Aid?
You must
Have I paid enough tax already?
When you give money to FOS (UK) under Gift Aid, we will reclaim basix rate tax on that money
- currently 28 pence in the pound.
You must therefore pay in that tax year an amount of tax at least equal to the amount we will
reclaim. For a £7 subscription, you must pay at least £1.96 in tax each year to qualify.
Why do I need to give a declaration?
The declaration is our authority to reclaim tax from the Inland Revenue on your gift.
By making the declaration you are confirming that you understand this.
What if I move house, or … ?
If your circumstances change - you move house, change your name or cease to be a UK taxpayer
- then you need to inform us.
What if I want to cancel the arrangement?
You are not committing yourself to make future donations by signing the form.
If you wish to stop your donations you can cancel your declaration at any time (in writing).
The cancellation takes effect from the time FOS (UK) receives your letter.
Can I include my fund-raising efforts?
No. Only your subscription and any donation made from your personal income qualifies
for Gift Aid.
If other people have given you donations (eg in return for a talk about Sangam)
then you have not paid tax on this money and it cannot be included.
If I pay income tax at the higher rate, will this affect my support?
Your Gift Aid donation will benefit FOS (UK) and you.
We claim back the tax you have paid at the standard rate.
You can claim the difference between the higher and basic rates of tax on your Self Assessment
form at the end of the tax year.
How do I make my donations through Gift Aid?
All you need to do is complete and return a simple declaration form.
To keep things simple we have now included the Gift Aid declaration on the membership subscription form.
